How do I export past trade data to Sharesight?

You can use Hatch’s exports to load your historic data into Sharesight

🚨 Important: Hatch will not be able to automatically sync trade data from before the date you connected your Hatch and Sharesight accounts.

We know some Hatchlings like to use Sharesight to track their assets. But Hatch now only syncs future trades from when you set it up, so here’s how to easily enter your historic trades:

  1. Using landscape or a wide screen device like a computer, sign in to Hatch and go to your Transactions page

  2. Sharesight can only process Buy and Sell transactions, so click the All types button to filter out other transaction types. Make sure that the date range selected covers all of the transactions you want to export too.

  3. Click the Export/Download button on the right and a .csv file will download to your device

  4. Sign in to Sharesight and click Add investment on the right, then click Upload via spreadsheet

  5. In the Upload via spreadsheet page, click “choose a file” and select the .csv file you previously downloaded, then click Confirm upload

  6. In the File upload page, leave Date format as “International” and leave Price format as “Dollars” then click Next

  7. In the Choose columns page, check the columns have automatically filled into their correct spaces, then click Next

  8. In the Review page, check the trade details seem correct, and you can edit anything necessary then click Next

  9. In the Confirm page, click Import to complete the process.

To enter a DAGXX dividend in Sharesight, which you can find in your yearly tax reports, you’d enter a buy of DAGXX. And like most shares in Hatch, DAGXX is an overseas investment and any dividend income you earn counts towards your Foreign Investment Fund (FIF) income.

If you’re having trouble, head over to Sharesight’s explanation of this process.

💡Note: If some trades are not accepted at first, check if the instruments underwent symbol changes/other corporate actions while you held them, you may need to update the details.

Import balances instead

If you’re not worried about seeing your historic trades in Sharesight but want to get your portfolio in sync with Hatch, you can alternatively choose just to import opening holdings balances.

To do this, first export your holdings from Hatch by clicking the export button shown above your holdings on the portfolio page (see below). Then follow Sharesight’s instructions.
