We'll email you if it's time for your details to be updated

Why do I have to update my US tax information?

The IRS in the US requires W-8BEN forms for all non-US investors. This was automatically completed on your behalf when you joined Hatch, but your information needs to be re-confirmed every three years, even if nothing has changed.

How do I update my US tax information?

  1. Securely log in to our broker’s portal using the email registered to your Hatch account

  2. You’ll receive an email from our broker, containing a one-time link. Click the link to log in to the portal

  3. Once you’re logged in, follow the steps to review and update any information that is out of date

    • Note: In the past your Passport or Driver's Licence number has been used as your identification number with Drivewealth, to ensure that your tax filing is complete you should replace this with your IRD number

  4. After updating and submitting your information you’ll see a copy of your tax form to review

    • When you’re done click ‘Yes, it is correct’, you’ll then see a green message saying ‘Verification successful' at the top of the form

  5. If you make an update to any details with DriveWealth, let us know so we can update our records too

What happens if I don’t do this?

If you don’t confirm or update your details by 31 December 2024 you may be charged the maximum withholding tax rate of 30% (instead of 15%) on any dividends you receive. You’ll continue to be charged at 30% by our broker on behalf of the IRS until you’ve confirmed your details.
