Brokerage fees tailored to your budget
Our brokerage fee is 1% (or less) of the order value for each investment in your auto-invest basket. This makes investing whatever amount you’re comfortable with more cost-effective, even if it's $1 USD.

🚨 Important: Fees are calculated separately for each investment in your auto-invest basket.
*Remember, because the money is theirs, kids' account funds can only be withdrawn to the child's own bank account.
Auto-invest examples for each fee bracket amount
We've highlighted the areas relating to fees on the view page for these order examples. We have an example for each of: order value under $300 per investment, order value under $30,000 per investment, and order value over $30,000 per investment. Our second example also shows different investments in one order falling into different fee brackets.
Investing less than $300 USD in each stock - 1% fee
$100 USD is split between 5 investments
The investment values are split 40% ($40), two at 20% ($20), and two at 10% ($10)
Each investment order in the basket has a 1% fee deducted from it, for a total fee payment of $1.00 USD (1% of the $100 total)
If there is less than $100 USD in the account, this order is set to use whatever funds are available, and split that amount accordingly, including fees of maximum 1% of that amount.
💡 Note: Where calculating 1% of the investment value results in an amount containing fractions of a cent, our fee is rounded down.
Investing over $300 USD in one stock, and under $300 USD in another - $3 USD & 1% fee
$500 USD is split between 2 investments
The investment values are split 20% ($100) and 80% ($400)
The investment order for under $300 has a 1% ($1) fee deducted from it, and the investment order for over $300 has a $3 fee deducted from it, for a total fee payment of $4 USD (0.8% of the $500 total)
Investing over $30,000 USD in each stock - 0.01% fee
$150,000 USD is split between 3 investments
The investment values are split 25% ($37,500), 30% ($45,000), and 45% ($67,500)
Each investment order in the basket has a 0.01% fee deducted from it, for a total fee payment of $15 USD (0.01% of the $150,000 total)
Fees shown are estimates
The fees displayed when viewing your auto-invest order in Hatch are estimates and your actual fee will be confirmed each time your order is completed. Usually these will match, but in some cases the actual fee charged may differ, such as:
If you've decided to use whatever balance you have if your account doesn't have the full USD cash amount on the day, and we place your order for less than your specified auto-invest amount, then the fees will be adjusted accordingly to reflect the amount used.
If there are special fee discounts available for any of the investments in your basket, when you view your auto-invest then you’ll see these discounts applied.
As long as this discount is still available when your order is placed, you’ll be charged the reduced fee
If the discount is no longer available, you’ll be charged the normal fee
If we can’t place or complete part or all of your order, then you won’t be charged any fees for any part that is not completed.

Depositing for auto-invest
To help you pay yourself first and to make sure your auto-invest runs like clockwork, we recommend setting up an automatic payment from your bank to your Hatch account. As a bonus, regular deposits mean you’ll get the benefits of dollar-cost averaging the exchange rate too!
Deposit fees for auto-invest are the same low rate as usual on Hatch: 0.5% (or sometimes even less for large deposits).
💡 Note: As the exchange rate fluctuates, depositing a fixed amount of NZD (New Zealand Dollars) won’t necessarily mean you can invest the same amount of USD (United States Dollars) every time.
You can decide for your auto-invest to spend up to the amount you set rather than only the amount set so it’ll go ahead even if the exchange rate fluctuates.
