If Hatch isn't quite right for you, or you're not ready to invest yet, you might be looking to close your account.

How do I close my account?

Before you close your Hatch account you will need to;

  • Sell your investments

  • Withdraw your money to a verified NZ bank account (make sure your balance is $0)

After doing this, you can contact one of our team to help you through the process.

What does closing my account mean?

Your account can be inactive, but you don't necessarily need to close it. When you request your account be closed, a few things happen;

  • Our broker DriveWealth will close your account.

  • You won't be able to log in to your Hatch account

  • You'll no longer receive general updates about Hatch and what we're up to

💡 Note: We won't totally cut ties with you, unless you want to! You'll still get our market newsletters, unless you unsubscribe from them, and we won't remove you from the Hatch Investor's Club Facebook community.


Can I leave my account open?

If you have transferred to another broker, or sold your shares and withdrawn your funds, your account will remain open unless you request for it to be closed. If you think you might use Hatch again in the future, feel free to leave your account open, it won't cost you anything.

🚨 Important: If your account has a zero balance and you're inactive (not logging in, or depositing) for 12 months, it will be deactivated.

Transferring to another platform

If you're looking at transferring your shares to another broker, contact our team and they will help you through the process. Many of our investors use Hatch alongside another broker, so we keep your account open unless you ask for it to be closed.
