How to tell if an email or message is really from Hatch

At Hatch, keeping your funds and data secure is one of our highest priorities. This is why we require customers to use two-factor authentication (2FA), why we take time to carefully verify details about you and your accounts, and why we want our customers to be wary of phishing scams and other cybercrime.

Here’s a simple checklist of ways to confirm if a Hatch email is legitimate

  1. Check communications are from our email domain @hatchinvest.nz

    • Make sure it’s not misspelt as that could be someone pretending to be us.

    • Make sure there aren't any extra bits or subtle changes (e.g. hatch.invest.nz or hatchinvest.com)

    • Note: You may also occasionally be contacted by our broker's partner Broadridge through @investordelivery.com or @proxyvote.com

  2. Look for the Hatch logo, colours and details

    • Our emails are framed by our logo, colours and details

    • We may update our email styling, so if it might not be clear otherwise, we will usually address you by name.

  3. Consider what it’s asking - Hatch will never:

    • Ask for your password or 2FA codes

    • Ask you to install software/apps on your device

    • Ask you to transfer money anywhere other than to your Hatch account (using only the deposit details you can see in app)

    • Offer financial advice or pressure you to buy a particular investment product

    • Give out unbelievable deals (if it feels too good to be true, it probably is)

Does Hatch use contact methods other than email?

We may also contact you via the in-app messenger or call you on the phone - usually only if you have requested it, or to verify details about withdrawal requests.

We will not contact you directly via SMS or social media messages (we only use SMS for 2FA and post on our official social media pages)

If you’re still not sure, you can always ask us to verify any communications you receive

Hatch doesn't have a phone number you can call, or take any in-person appointments, but you can book a call with us or email hello@hatchinvest.nz with a copy of the message you received and any questions or concerns, or chat with us while you're logged into Hatch:

🚨 Report a scam

If you receive an email, SMS, or phone call that you believe is a scam attempt please send a copy or details to hello@hatchinvest.nz. Our team will investigate and use this information to help keep our investing community safe.
