If the two-factor authentication (2FA) process is getting you down, we have some options to speed things up for you:

  • Access Hatch with just your fingerprint or facial recognition, using passkeys. (Head over to our passkey-specific help article to learn how to set up passkeys)

  • Or read on below to learn how to take advantage of a password manager to automate your login & 2FA for you.

If you’re using a mobile device, you may have access to an app or browser extension such as LastPass or Proton Pass which can auto-fill login and 2FA details.

If you’re using a desktop device, you may have access to a browser extension such as LastPass, NordPass, or Norton Password Manager.

If you’re using an Apple device (desktop or mobile), you may have access to Apple iCloud Keychain or the Apple Passwords app.

💡Note: As third party products, Hatch can't vouch for any one password manager, and it's your personal choice what you use here.

These how-to steps should be pretty consistent for setting up whichever option you choose:

  1. In Hatch:

    • Go to Settings > Two factor authentication

    • Select Authenticator app (this works even if you’re not using a typical authenticator app, or if you were already using a different authenticator app/password manager)

    • You should see a QR code on screen

      1. You may be able to scan this inside your password manager

      2. If not, beneath that click Can't scan? Set up manually and copy the 32 character code you now see on screen

  2. In your password manager:

    • Click the + or Add New button (the exact wording may vary)

    • Give it a label (e.g Hatch) and fill in your normal Hatch login details

    • Paste or key in your previously copied 32 character code into the secret/setup key/code area (again, the exact wording in your password manager may vary)

    • Click Save

  3. You'll now see the 2FA code generated in your password manager, just copy this back into Hatch to complete the setup.

After your password manager is set up with your Hatch details, the next time you log in using the same browser/device, you should see an option to auto-fill your details and 2FA instead of manually typing them in.
